I saw my first Staffy in 1973. A friend of mine had purchased a pup from a litter in Northern California. His name was Jake (Motherlode Rough and Ready). He was the cutest little pup I'd ever seen.
So, I got one of my own. I picked out a little brindle girl from a litter in Los Angeles. Silverlake Hollyberry (Holly) was my first Staffy. We had a life together for 13 years.
I now have three Staffords. I will never have any other type of dog.
Staffodshire Bull Terriers "The Foremost All Purpose Dog" is truly what the Stafford is about. They are tough, couragous, stubborn,curious,people-loving, comfort-loving, intelligent, quick, agile.
YOU must set rules and YOU must be the BOSS.
Adult Staffords will protect their people but most likely not property, they would let a thief in the house if he talked to them nice, they have a natural fondness for people.
Staffords are not for everyone.
We reccommend that you read as much as possible about the breed, go to AKC dog shows and see them, talk to breeders, owners, pet them touch them, let them lick you, get a feel for who they are.
