Achievements:
Lancer was a once in a lifetime dog, the best companion a person could ask for. He was a hip improver and after a dreadful beginning in Goldens in terms of soundness, Lancer was just what I needed. I am so thankful to Marcia Schlehr for allowing me the privilege of owning this marvelous dog. Even now, years after Lancer's death, I see his legacy of intelligence, beauty, soundness, sense of humour and temperament in each new generation of dogs.
As a showdog Lancer won the puppy sweeps in a huge entry at the Fort Detroit Specialty in 1986 and finished his Championship in very short order. In obedience Lancer placed in the ribbons at the GRCC National Specialty after only one set of 10 classes. Lancer was trained for his CDX and I still regret not continuing to trial him. He also excelled at Pet Therapy Work with his calm, happy manner.
Lancer was a thinker and loved to make people laugh. If one of his antics made you laugh he would not forget and would pull the same stunt when you least expected it. To know him was to love him.
