About Us

As my family comes from the Netherlands I decided to relate my chosen Prefix to my families homeland.  Herstellener means to Recover or Retrieve.
Herstellener Kennels was first registered in Sydney
New South Wales, in 1983.
This was with my German Shorthaired Pointer foundation bitch Zahleins Odessy 'Zara'.  From Zara's 3rd litter born in Adelaide, South Australia, to
Aust Ch Birdrise Zigs Image she produced
CH HERSTELLENER COCO

Coco's impact on the breed here in Australia is not because of the large number of Champions but what his progeny has won &  produced.
There are 6 CACIB's awarded in Australia to Shorthairs.  All have been Coco son's &  daughters.  Coco's daughter
GRD CH HEIDERST CHANTILLY LACE
was the first shorthair to win Best In Group at a Melbourne Royal.  Later Coco's son
CH HEIDERST HOW ABOUT THAT
won not only Best In Group but went on to win Runner /Up in Show with an entry of 6,500 dogs.

 Another Coco son
CH HEIDERST ALL THAT STYLE
won Best In Show at the first
GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER NATIONAL
held in Australia.

COCO passed away in May 1998 but is in most of the pedigrees that are still being exhibited by Heiderst throughout Australia and also overseas therefore he may be gone but not forgotten.

We  were lucky enough to have owned a son from Coco's last litter, Heiderst Choclat Soldier "Milo"who unfortunatly after a short illness had to be euthanised.
After loosing Milo mum couldn't help but feel lost, so, after a long hard think she decided to concentrate more on our Weimaraner & Golden Retrievers.
Maybe one day we will get another GSP but for now we are happy to sit back & watch.

IN 1999 I became the proud owner of our first Weimaraner, Aceweis Witches Hex "HEX"  She has certainly made her presence felt in the ring being awarded Multi Classes in Group In Show.
She soon became
AUST CH ACEWEIS WITCHES HEX
Brianna nagged me to let her have her own Weimaraner so we purchased
AUST CH GREYDOVE NICE N EASY
she was owned by me but Ash was exclusively handled by Brianna.
Ash unfortunately died as
the result of a boarding kennel not caring for her properly & not getting her to the vet.  Brianna & I were devastated by this loss.  She was a fantastic ambassador to the breed but most importantly she will be very much missed by Brianna.  Brianna has written a little something in the In Memory page on this site.

Brianna wanted a long coated breed so she finally got her way in 2004 and we added a
Golden Retriever to our family in May 2004.
GOLDTREVE WILD N WILFUL
'Will' is very outgoing and fits in really well with us.Will is a Multi BIS, BISS Multi R/Up IS,BIG, R/UpIG, Class In Group & In Show winner gaining his Championship title at just 14 months of age.
He was the most consistent winning Golden Retriever in the NT for 2005, being the Top Gundog (DOLPS) for 2006, 2007, 2008 & now is not only the top gnndog but the
TOP SHOWDOG in the NT (Dogzonline Pointscore)
& was awarded
Top Show Dog for the Palmerston Gundog Club,
Show Dog Handlers Club and
Top Gundog Darwin Ladies Kennel Club & after winning 11 BIS this year (14 in total)
will win these awards again for 2008.
WIL IS NOW A GRAND CH (as of the 2nd Aug 2008)
He has been eye tested clear & his hip score is 2+3 (5) Elbows 0:0.

Brianna & I are very thankful to Beryl & Fred Hession for this superb young gentleman.

During 2006 we  added a new addition to Herstellener
CH SANTAMARIA DENIM N LACE.
'Grace'  was successfully shown to her Aust Ch Title by myself & Brianna.  She has done very well with Multi Classes In Groups & In Shows.  Also winning R/Up In Group under well known Breed Specialist Mrs Beryl Hession & also under an International Judge Ms F Browning-Cristina (South Africa).
Her hip score is 5+7 (12) elbows 0:0
Grace was mated to Wil & they produced 8 lovely little golden angels, unfortunately we kept the wrong puppies with the lovely home that we got for our other little cherubs and now getting photos of them as they are growing up with many of them looking FANTASTIC.....(LOL)

We sold one of our girls as a pet from our first litter to Julie Blight and she has turned out to be a show dog her name is Lacey (HERSTELLENER FIRE N ICE)
"LACEY", lives of course with Julie & Grace is now desexed & lives there too.
Although Lacey has only just starting her show career she has alrady picked up a few Challenges.

With a new & great association with Rose Easton of Montego Kennels we have now have 3 Montego Goldens here.
"BELLA" (CH MONTEGO VANILLA ICE)
came to us to be shown & after being here for just a few weeks went out & took out 2 X Best In Groups & then went on to win a Best In Show.
She is now in whelp to Wil & we look forward to seeing what these 2 lovely dogs can produce.
another Golden from Rose is  MONTEGO NORTH N STAR
"TAYLOR" is a very outgoing little girl with heaps of get up & go.  Lovely flowing movement & plenty of bone.  Her attitude we think will make her a GREAT little show dog.  She is now having a break from the show ring & being left to mature although she is coming together very, very well andwill be back in the show ring in 2010. She lives with Julie's son Craig & enjoys 1 on 1 companionship.

Our 3rd Montego is "LOGAN"(MONTEGO LAW N ORDER).  He is only 4 1/2 months & already has impressed us no end.  He is a real little show pony & really struts his stuff.  We are looking forward to watching  him  and time will tell if he is as good as we think he is. (:-))

We have a couple of exciting litters planned for 2010 &pefully even more exciting news for early 2011.

In2006 Brianna & I offered to lease & Show an Amstaff from a good friend of ours, Yvonne Mitchell, however after Yvonne's long battle with cancer she passed away in late Dec 2006.  She had decided that she would still like us to have the little bitch Angel here in Darwin & left her to us in her will. So late in Jan 07 Angel arrived in Darwin..
STAFFACE STARZ N STRIPES
She is well on the way to her title and will be back in the show ring in 2008
"Angel" will continue to be handled by Brianna.

We now have (May 2008) become the proud owners of a dear little
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
His name is (CH MELLOWAY WHATA CRACKER) 'Daniel'.

He is a real character & he well & truly a little show pony.  He never stops wagging his tail & he is as bold as brass....This we feel that he will be a great little showman.........
After only 15 shows he has well over 100 points, winning 2 BIG & 3 X PIS.  He is quite a littleshow off and continues to have wonderful results.  he is very funny as I am sure that he thinks he is a Golden Retriever.........

This site is dedicated to our
Golden Retriever's, Cav & Amstaff
In Memory of our GSPs
& Weimaraners.
