Achievements:
In 2001, I found myself in the position of having to start my breeding program anew.
During my years of being involved with Golden Retrievers, I had used my time wisely and had become well aware of both breeders who I respected and those who I did not.
One of the breeders I had grown to respect and trust was Doug Windsor of Butterblac Retrievers, who has been involved with the breed for decades.
Doug has consistanly been producing, healthy, long living Golden Retrievers, with truly golden temperament, who also excel in the the varied activities of the breed and obedience rings and field and tracking events.
My thinking was that I should try to build my future on as solid a foundation as I could find. Keeping this in mind, I approached Doug to see if he would help me start to build this sound foundation. To my amazement...he said yes!
Over the years, I have been very fortunate to have been the recipient of the support and guidance of many long term and well respected Golden Retriever breeders. I will always appreciate and be greatful for what they have done for me.
Doug suggested we co-breed a female of his, Habit, with Revel.
Most breeders start out with what is called a foundation female...it looks like I was going to do things a bit differently, starting out with a foundation male....my Revel coming through for me yet again :-)
Out of this breeding of Habit and Revel, I kept a female I named Stepper "Joyso Butterblac Rehab Reward".
Stepper had a very nice show career as a puppy, taking 2 BPB and 1 BPG in limited showing.
Stepper passed all of her health checks, just as her pedigree had carried the hope and promise that she could. Receiving OVC normal hips and elbows at 1 1/2 years of age, then at 2 years of age, OFA excellent hips, normal elbows, normal heart and eyes.
Stepper is blessed with the best of both her parents temperament. She has the silly carefreeness of her daddy, Revel, and the sweetness of her mother, Habit.
Stepper is definately the sound foundation I was looking for.
With wise breeding decisions, I hope to build on what Stepper and her parents have given me.
