At Strathaird we take a lot of pride in our breeding programme, and take care when selecting our breeding stock. All of our dogs are tested clear of any hereditory disorders by means of hip/elbow x-rays and grades, and eye certificates. We match suitable stud dogs to our bitches who will complement them both physically, and genetically. Only the best dogs available are selected for stud purposes in order to improve on the bitches that we have, and to maintain the high standard of our breed.
We will occasionally have puppies available for those who can prove to us their suitability as a prospective owner. Only will a puppy be sold for breeding purposes if we are convinced that the prospective buyer is genuine, and cares more for the welfare of the breed - and not just the money they think is involved. Quite contrary to what people may believe, there is little to no profit in breeding. All breeding dogs should, in my opinion, perform in some discipline, such as showing, obedience, agility or fieldwork in order to prove its worthyness as a stud dog or brood bitch. This can sometimes be costly, but gives you a much broader understanding of the breed, and what your dogs flaws and assets are - which is extremely important when trying to maintain the standard of the Golden Retriever -not to mention that it is addictive!
However, we encourage all our puppy buyers (not just those wanting to breed) to participate in at least one of the previously stated disciplines. The Golden Retriever is so versitile - so why not make the most of yours?
As you can understand, all we want is the best for our puppies bred here at Strathaird. We as breeders are responsible for bringing them into this world - and so we are also responsible for their futures and well beings.
All Strathaird puppies go home Registered with their first vaccination, wormed, inclusive with an extensive booklet containing information and guidelines that we expect you will follow. All puppies also come with a written health guarantee.
We offer full twenty-four hour support to all of our puppy buyers, and will do all that we can to help you to make the most of your Strathaird baby. This may even include helping you to trim your puppy in preparation for a show, or giving advise - or even just to say hello.
