What colour is golden?

The colour of a golden by the NZ standard is... "Any shade of gold or cream, but neither red nor mahogany. The presence of a few white hairs on chest permissible. White collar, feet, toes or blaze should be penalised. Nose should be black. " The first picture shows a WHITE Samoyed through to a RED Irish Setter. Neither end are permissible in the Golden Retriever breed standard, but all that is between is golden! This photo is from Wendy Andrew's "The Breed Standard Illustrated" The second picture shows the variation that can exist within just one litter, these are four puppies from one Arangold litter.
