Achievements:
Photo taken 2002. As this photo shows, BUDDY hated to have his picture taken. The only good photo I have of him was taken without his knowledge -- it's on the IT'ZA homepage, and BUDDY is the dog in the foreground. Dual registered with the International English Shepherd Registry (IESR) and United Kennel Club (UKC). DNA-P. Jet black. Pure-Mohns breeding. BUDDY came from a litter of all-supersized pups -- a spontaneous mutation he, in turn, passed on to his offspring. Although a giant of a dog, BUDDY OFA'd "Excellent" at 68 months of age. BUDDY came to IT'ZA late in his life, after his owner/breeder Harold Mohns of Brodhead, Wisconsin, died. Harold's widow had placed him on a farm several hours from their home and BUDDY promptly ran away. He spent an entire Wisconsin winter trying to get back to the only home he'd ever known. Farmers who saw this huge dog in their yards didn't realize he was a gentle giant -- they shot BUDDY so full of lead shot that shortly after he came to IT'ZA he developed lead poisoning and had to be humanely euthanised. BUDDY was so gentle you could lead him around with a piece of twine. Originally called SLASH by his breeder, BUDDY got his new callname from the Wisconsin humane society who rescued him that dark, cold winter. They couldn't have chosen a better name -- he was everybody's buddy, everyone's friend.
